I was able to sail on Sunday for three hours with no destination, just following the wind. It made me wonder. Why sail where you want to go and not to where the wind is willing to take you with the least amount of effort. A go with the flow kind of thing. Trusting and letting go.
September came and went. With it, the peak of Hurricane Season for us in the Caribbean. After Maria last year we were definetly hoping for a quiet month and it delivered. We’ve had our share of systems getting close and the rain associated with it, but nothing major. This meant not having to tie the boat down or take the sails down, something I wasn’t looking forward to.
Acting started 8 years or so ago for me. My son Guille expressed some interest in doing commercials and I took him to a couple of Talent Agencies in San Juan I was able to get referrals to. Once there, I ventured with him and filled out some forms for myself. I had done some acting in High School, but nothing formal. I’ve always said that a Masters in Architecture prepares you for much more than Architecture. Surprisingly, calls started coming and I was sent out to casting calls and gigs. I started booking extra roles in Hollywood productions on the Island. I really liked the experience.
When I started this blog almost two months ago, I visualized it to be a blog about the sailboat, sailing, living aboard a sailboat and technical issues. All that goes into running and fixing a floating home. For some reason it has taken an unexpected turn every time I sit down to write. It became more personal and more spiritual.
Yesterday I received news that my birthmother died 20 years ago. She was 64 years old. Thanks to a special person in my life, I began my quest based on some documents my father gave me when I graduated College in 1985. I remember the time as if was today and Elton John’s Nikita made it all much palpable.
Searching for a sailboat
It all started right after Hurricane María hit Puerto Rico, September 20, 2017, or maybe a little bit before that for me. Looking into old Affirmation and Planning documents I keep writing once in a while, I found that back in 2015 and 2016 I was already visualizing myself owning a sailboat.
